Behind the brand

Growing up in a family reliant on hunting, I was born to hunt, to gather, to walk with the wild animals and to share my passion for hunting with others. Many memories from my childhood are from being in the field, following in my dad’s footsteps through the rainforest as we looked for Roosevelt elk or blacktail deer. Being 1 of 14 children mom sowed our hunting clothes, which consisted of unisex sizing and thick fleece material. Hunting in the rainforest was no joke, but often times I felt overwhelmed with sweat as I tried not to trip over my baggy pants. Regardless of the lack of performance in my clothes, I didn’t let that stop me from wandering into the forest. At just 13 year old I harvested my first blacktail deer, alone in the woods just before dark. I was hooked and dreamed of one day chasing big bulls in the mountains of Colorado.

Growing up in Roswell Georgia, Bevan (Founder) unlike Draya (co-founder) wasn’t introduced to hunting until many years down the road when she started dating an avid hunter and wildlife photographer. Always having a love for skiing, yoga, and the outdoors, Bevan realized the lack of women’s hunting clothes that ran true to fit and fashion when venturing out on spring turkey and winter waterfowl hunts. She decided it was time to make a change, and started up the brand, Ridge Patrol. She was inspired through her few experiences in the field to create a women’s specific hunting clothes line that was along the lines of “the lulu lemon of hunting.” Comfortable, fashionable, soft, and most importantly, performance, and so the work began to make the best women’s hunting & outdoor clothing line yet.

Knocking on Bevan’s front door I was excited to check out this new clothing line, to try it on and hopefully have some feedback that would go back into the prototypes, and then later on into women’s hands. With each piece of clothes I could tell Bevan had put a great amount of thought into them, but seemed to be a bit out of touch with the essentials as a hunter. Due to not having much exposure to hunting, Bevan was thankful for my advice as I went on and on about how she should change this, or keep this detail. I had mentioned I was headed out on an Arizona deer hunt next month and would be happy to test out the clothes along with get some photos for social media. A partnership & friendship was born, we just didn’t know it yet.

During my hunt in Arizona I fell in love with the pants but knew instantly they needed small changes, such as more stretch, more breathable material, and yet at the same time, they needed to be more durable. We needed to narrow down our fabrics so we could give you ladies the best hunting and outdoor pant yet. Chatting with our manufacture in LA ( Yes we are USA made!) they agreed to make up yet another prototype geared towards our vision. The pants arrived just in time for my Montana spring bear hunt. The design on our pants was spot on, but still I wasn’t 100% satisfied with their look and performance, so once again we sent them back to production to be perfected.

While waiting for our prototype to become completed, Bevan had asked me to come on as her partner, the co-founder of the company. There was no question about it, I was all in! With 5 years of guiding hunts under my belt I was eager to expand my audience and resume. I personally knew the struggles as a woman in this male dominated industry, from finding clothes that fit and look good, to finding a sisterhood. I had a feeling, a good feeling, that the pieces of the puzzle would start to come together and that Ridge Patrol would become the female version of First Lite, ONLY BETTER!! It’s time to bridge the gap, it’s time to stand up as women in this male dominated sport and industry and to not have to fight for it. We are here for you and our clothes will not only look good on you, but will bring you confidence no matter what trail you take.

May 2021. Ridge Patrol officially became a business and with excited hearts we launched our Pre-Sale on our very first spring/fall line. Once again, we would like to thank all of you who have supported and trusted us along the way, especially in the beginning.

We are proud to be USA made, owned by women and to bring you clothes that will change the way you hunt. Our tanks, tech tops, hoodie and leggings are all made from recycled materials. Our pants and jacket are made with quick dry fabrics, and also fleece lined (the jacket) to keep the wind and chill off our back. Our ridge blazer fleece is simply amazing, as it is literally the perfect camping, glassing, chopping firewood, etc layer. It’s durable, wicks sweat and the high neck keeps you cozy and warm.

We could go on and on about how amazing our clothes are but we will let you be the one to decided that. What’s most important to us is the sisterhood that is starting to evolve and the confidence we are seeing daily as women wear our clothes on their outdoor adventures. Psssst… Also, you look so good in them!

As we near hunting season we would love to follow along on your hunting journey too, and we please ask you to tag us in your post so we can share and support you too! Ridge Patrol isn’t about Bevan and Draya, it’s about US, the women hunter for we are fierce and beautiful no matter our body shape or size.
